Based in Melbourne, Ms Merlino joins BDO from PwC where she was director of financial advisory and employment taxes.

BDO’s Melbourne lead partner for people advisory, Ben Renshaw, said Ms Merlino would add strength and depth to the firm’s people advisory offering, ensuring it could continue to meet the increasing client demand for employment tax and payroll-related compliance and advice services.

“Stefanie has worked on an impressive range of complex matters and specialises in all aspects of employment tax compliance and consulting,” Mr Renshaw said.

“We are thrilled to have her choose to join our growing team.”

Ms Merlino brings skills and experience across all aspects of employment tax including fringe benefits tax, superannuation guarantee, payroll tax, WorkCover and workers’ compensation, and employee share schemes.

Her practice areas range from tailored advice for individuals to large-scale reviews for large multinational organisations and government departments.

Before PwC, she was previously an employment tax manager at Deloitte and a senior consultant at EY.

She is also registered with the Victorian Supreme Court as an Australian legal practitioner.

“Stefanie has a strong market presence, a positive and growth-focused mindset and has built deep and longstanding relationships with key organisations around Australia,” BDO Melbourne managing partner, David Garvey said.

“Her technical expertise and collegiate approach across the full gamut of employment taxation matters will be a huge asset to us as our team continues to grow.”
